7 Quick, Easy Ways to Winterize
Winter is coming soon. Are you ready?
November is a great time to winterize your home in preparation for colder weather. Here
are a few quick, inexpensive tips for cutting your heating bills.
1. Use a draft snake. This device was adopted during the Great Depression, and is one of
the easiest ways to cut the cold. It’s a long sack filled with sand or kitty litter that you
can push into the crack under doors to stop drafts. You can buy a pre-made draft
snake, or make your own.
2. Change the direction of your ceiling fans. Heat rises, so pulling the heat down from the
ceiling will warm your room up fast.
3. If you used a window AC unit in the summer, remove it for winter. Warm air escapes
through the vents and the areas around the unit.
4. Service your heating unit and replace filters. An efficient heating unit will work better
and cost less to run.
5. Consider using window insulation film. This thin layer of film sticks right onto your
windows and adds up to 70% more heat retention.
6. Use a candle to detect subtle air leaks. Light a candle, then move it all around the edge
of your windows. If the flame wiggles in the breeze, then caulk that spot on the window.
7. If you have a fireplace, keep the flue closed when not in use to prevent heat from
escaping and cold air from working its way down into the house.

Healthy Pets Save Money
If your like me your pets are part of the family. We love our pets, but they can be expensive to care for, especially as they age. You never want to have to choose between your pet and your bank balance, so consider these simple tips for saving money while keeping Fido or Fluffy healthy and happy:
Get regular checkups. The money you spend on vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and
routine medical care will pay off in preventing more expensive illnesses later.
Groom at home. Lots of grooming—brushing, washing, clipping claws—can be done
on your own. Also learn to do the unpleasant tasks of cleaning ears and anal glands.
Get annual dental care. Talk to your vet about keeping your pet’s teeth clean and
preventing infections. Dental problems are one of the leading causes of dog or cat
health problems as they age.

If you or someone you care about had been thinking about buying or selling a home in the spring or summer and decided to wait, there is a subtle yet important shift to moving in the fall that deserves consideration.

It is important that you know I optimize marketing strategies based on several factors that influence your micro-market. Clean Dryer Vents to Avoid House Fires
Did you know there are approximately 25,000 dryer fires every year in North America, and most of them occur because lint builds up in the dryer or the exhaust duct?
A lint-clogged exhaust duct can also push warm, moist air into your wall cavities and attic, encouraging mold growth and potentially starting a fire! Here are some tips for preventing lint fires.
Remember to clean the lint screen before or after drying each load of laundry.
Using a vacuum attachment, vacuum out the lint screen housing.
Carefully pull the dryer away from the wall and remove the duct that connects your dryer to the duct in your wall. Vacuum out the back of the dryer, the dryer duct, and the wall duct as much as possible, using a long vacuum attachment. Take care when reattaching the duct and pushing the dryer back into place that the duct does not detach from the wall or dryer, and that it doesn’t kink or crush.
Clean the dryer vent cover on the outside of your home by removing any blockage and lint. Vacuum out the vent as far as you can using a long vacuum attachment. Turn the dryer on when you are finished and make sure that you feel the exhaust air from the dryer exiting your home.
Keep the area around the dryer clean and free of clutter. If you suspect the vent has built up lint that you can’t get out, remove and replace the vent with a new piece.

What Do Baby Boomers And Millennials Share?
Here’s a quick note to let you know how I can help you and the people you feel comfortable introducing me to.
This year there are more healthy and happy baby boomers over 65 than ever before. At the same time, there are more millennials than ever before, many of whom are well-educated, but paying the price in terms of high student debt, which keeps them living with their boomer parents longer.
Despite their financial and age differences, both these groups want the best for themselves and each other. For that reason, they appreciate the input of family and friends when choosing a product or service. Both prefer an enthusiastic introduction over the thought of working with the unknown.
It’s important you know I skillfully work with people of many income brackets.
Whether you know a person with a lot of student loan debt or someone who could pay cash for their next home, I love helping people make good financial decisions. The next time you notice someone who would benefit from my help, call or text me immediately. I promise they’ll be delighted you introduced us.

July Is Family Vacation Month
Here’s a quick note to let you know how I can help you and the people you feel comfortable introducing me to.
Outside of traveling for Thanksgiving, more families celebrate reunions in July than any other season. The availability of outdoor locations and activities is a popular choice, because the weather is so nice. And since the kids are out of school, summer is generally an easier time to travel for most.
If family is visiting you this summer and conversations turn to the possibility of a move that brings them closer, feel comfortable giving my time and expertise to them. I can help them weigh the options of getting a condo for the summer and holiday travel, or the best options for a permanent relocation. Also, at this time, loan programs for second properties and new purchases are outrageously favorable.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could pick your next neighbor and it is someone you would love to have nearby?

What Makes A Great Experience?
Here’s a quick note to let you know how I can help you—or anyone you feel comfortable introducing me. Many people have a favorite restaurant, a place to enthusiastically recommend their friends because of the great experience they have there. Part of the experience comes from great food. But it’s more than just that. The experience is about how they feel there, which is a process of friendly service, attention to detail, consistency, etc. This restaurant is always hopping, and probably doesn’t do much advertising.
Most of its business comes from repeat customers and referrals.
So for a moment, can you imagine that I am just like your favorite restaurant?
Like your favorite restaurant, my purpose is for you to be so outrageously happy with both the product and process—the complete experience of buying or selling a home—that you enthusiastically introduce people you care about to me so that they can have the same kind of experience.
